Has anyone any ideas on how to remove gunk that is in my windshield washer reservoir without going to all the trouble of removing the fender or whatever is involved? I'm thinking something like mild Draino.

Its a 2007 Limited.

Front windshield gets no liquid at all. Rear windshield gets a small burst then nothing.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Poking a needle into the washer nozzle, wiggling it around, then spraying, then repeating several times, has always worked for me in the past.

Failing that, you might disconnect the hose from the nozzle and try blowing compressed air. If you suspect debris in the tank, try flushing it with a garden hose (making sure the water is gone before winter), or vacuuming it dry with a siphon pump.

I would avoid Draino. Anything that can burn human skin is probably not good for rubber hoses and electric pumps either.

Good luck!

you will likely find that the filter in the washer pump is blocked, you will need to remove it to clean it out, the motor is mounted under the right hand front wing/fender under the plastic shield

Mine does the same thing---the dealer blew compressed air and it still does not work---so its going back for a new pump. I think others have had their washer pumps crap out. They make noise but don't pump anything.

Did the dealer work on it under warranty?

Had the whole unit replaced yesterday, under warranty. Noticed that the stream from the passenger side nozzle now only comes part way up the windshield. Service manager stated that the nozzle was not adjustable and that perhaps there was some crud still blocking the line and to give it a try for a little while to see if it clears. If not then they would replace the nozzle.

Is he correct that the nozzle can not be adjusted to point higher up the windshield?

Whoda

Hi Whoda,

You can adjust the spray nozzle.

"Wiper fluid nozzle adjustment – very carefully put a pin in a nozzle to re-direct the aim of each individual nozzle."

I found this in thread: http://www.hyundai-forums.com/index.php?sh...14788&hl=nozzle

We've adjusted our front washer spray using this technique and it works well.
