While my 09 Sonata is new, I want to get a coat of something on the dark slate paint before fall and winter sets in.. I have looked everywhere and while some recommend a good paste wax, others are praising the "New" Space Age Liquids... What brands / types of wax are most of you using and why... I don't want to spend days waxing the vehicle, but want to put something on it that will do the job.. The dealer offered no real help on this subject... just said to use a "Quality" product whatever that might be... thoughts / ideas please..

I really like Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax. I've been using it for a few years with excellent results. Very easy to apply and buff off. Good shine. Seems to last a reasonable time.
I'll be doing my new Santa Fe soon.

Space age!
I used Ultima Paint Guard Plus from autopia-carcare.com. This stuff is the EASIEST, SLICKEST thing I've ever used. Wipe on and walk away seriously. I did my Sonata twice, My Sequoia once, my mom's Camry and my sisters Accord all with about 1 oz. of this stuff. Seems to be lasting very well and all dirt just washes off real easy. I also used it on the rims and my brake dust comes off with normal soap and water. The Sequoia took the longest at about 10 minutes but that was because I had to get my large stool to get the roof good.

The downside (beside being very addicting to just keep adding more coats) is that it has ZERO cleaning ability. You need to do your prep work first if needed (i.e clay and/or polish) if you have scratches and junk in paint.

I have a large wax "collection" including NXT, Zaino, Klasse, Pinnacle and some others but the Paint Guard Plus just RULES for easy protection.
