I normally get 33.5-34 mpg's.
As it got warmer with someone driving me around it dropped to 32.
The first tank after I put on the SRI and Muffler it jumped to 37(though mostly highway)
So I figured I would add some injector cleaner to the next tank(never added in the 22,000 previous miles).
Next 2&1/2 tanks were 30.2,30.2,and31.6(after oil change).
Could the injector cleaner maybe have broken some plaque loose and stuck an injector? The only other main change is the heat here has risen to upper 90's w/70-95% humidity(heat index of 102-108).Would the high heat and humidity do this?
Last tank I reset the ecu, filled up with Chevron gas ,and added a bottle of injector cleaner (hoping to finish the job),yielding 33.6 again.
I would really like to avoid this again ,so any explainations or suggestions would be welcome.
The SRI should not have adverse effects since the throttle body is still the same, and the muffler should have helped if anything, since the piping remained the same there is no chance of over scavanging.

does our accent use side feed or top feed injectors?

Side feed injectors are notorious for being clogged/damaged by off the shelf injector cleaner.

...I really need to purchase the factory service manual.

HMAservice is just not cutting it.

Injector clears do improve MPG, but you need to follow in instructions.

1. On fill up put in injector cleaner.
2. Run tank to near empty.
3. Fill up tank.

Now you should see the gains, you won't see them during, because your cleaning the injectors.

I heard these cleaners are bad for your engine...if there are some that do this...which ones are good?

I used STP the first time and the mileage dipped and stayed this last time I think it was Chevron brand.
I do know their gasoline w/Techron gets better mileage than most any other I have used and does so consistantly.
Thanks for the imput. :liebe011:

Mine always ran smoother, had more pep, and better FE on Chevron. Pitty they all closed up shop in my neck of the woods. :|

I do throw in a bottle of Techron, and usually see a slight decrease in FE for that tank. Once it's worked its way through the system though, it goes back up.
