Just got dinged $275 to replace my TPS on my 2002 Elantra. I had read up on the TPS here and knew it was a common problem. The dealer charged me $250 to replace it (inc parts and service).

Feeling ripped off since I have heard it is a $25 part after I got the work done. Here's hoping this fixes my high revving from time to time and I get some guarntee on the parts....

(sigh) :rant2: :rant2:

Yea...that price sucks big time.

Mine went bad about 50k....lucky for me it was still under warranty.

I never had high revving from mine....it was more like a cut out on the rev and then it would pick back up. The CEL would kick too when it did this.

I looked online for the price and I saw three available from 27 up to 53 bux.

If you could have done it yourself, you should have. It's not very difficult. Next time come to the forums before you have the repair done instead of afterwards when it's too late!

On the other hand, if you really needed the car fixed right away, just recognize that you're paying the dealer for their expertise, their having to get their hands dirty, and their getting it done right away.

I went to the doctor a few months ago for a routine check up, man i felt ripped off with that 400 dollar bill and all they did was blood work and the routine things. I could have done this myself I think if i went to a forum and asked about it. :whistling:
