Hello, I'm thinking of installing a FM moduator for my XM XpressRC radio as the new radios due to FCC regs have decreased their output power and do not work with the radio modulator very well like the older one's did. I do not have a tape deck or that would make it 100 per cent easier. So can anyone show or tell me how to remove the radio from my wife's 08 Hyundia Accent hatch back? If not where can I get the information to do this? :57:

I have an 07. Guessing you pop the front plastic surround part out that surrounds the radio. Then unscrew the radio from the mounting points.

Does this gizmo attach to just the antenna and not need any power? I have a Sirius Direct FM antenna relay that I had to install for the same exact reason, darn FCC. :P It's set up like this:

antenna lead ---> | FM Relay | ---> OEM stereo. No other connections/wiring.

I didn't even have to take the radio out or dash bezel off for this, it was super easy... If you just need access to the antenna, you can remove the glove box and look up and to the left, luckily they put the antenna plug on the radio right there on the far right. In one of the pics, you can see a yellow arrow, that's where the antenna plugs in.

My install is kind of, um, redneck... I mounted it to a dash brace and it's held in by duct tape and zip ties. Third picture added for humor, but that's ok - it works and I never have to see it. :P

If your modulator requres power that's a little more tricky since you'll have to get power from somewhere... If you want to splice into the existing wiring the radio will probably need to come out to make it easier. I like using those Add-A-Circuit fuse holders you put in the fuse block, maybe you could run one of those if you needed power and don't want to hack up existing wiring.

I just made a post about this subject. I have the same need to get to the antenna for a FM modulator for Sirius. The problem I have is that I have the factory head unit with built in XM and it does not have a standard automotive antenna plug. Does anyone know if there is a connection elsewhere? I looked at HMA Service and they show a connection on the right side of the car (location is not specific). After removing all interior trim on both the left and right side, I could not find it. Beore I create more rattles and scratches on the hard plastic, does anyone know where else to look?
