Hello. I have a 1999 Hyundai Accent, Older model edition (apparently there were two model years). I was trying to go out the today when my car would not start. I put the key in, turned the ignition and it would make the normal sound it did when starting but would not get over the final hump and start (My terminology regarding this is difficult. I don't know the words). My check engine light has been on regarding a hole in my exhaust (recently fixed) and had just recently come back on as a PO455 and now PO335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A circuit Malfunction. I'm unsure what this does and I haven't seen this sensor in the Haynes Manual (1995 to 1998 Hyundai - similar enough to match my car). Is it possible to replace the sensor? Is that the issue or is this standard for this type of vehicle?

UPDATE: Car started this morning first try. Took only a second or two; slightly longer than normal.

It seems it was just a sensor malfunctioning. However the PO455 is still occuring (Major Emissions Leak) although there are no issues with the car as far as I know. Is this simply the gas cap isn't turned on all the way or is it more serious? Anyone else have this issue?

hi there where is that hole u mentioned in the exhaust system it could also be a vacuum leak somewhere in the emission system my friends car had the same issue but we never found the issue it said to check the cat canister this code is very hard to fix if u don't have an exhaust analyzer good luck with that...
