Hi - changed my timing belt and spark plugs with wires recently. I found my car's overall noise levels (engine) reduced however the RPM jumps high (beyond 3000) whenever I am attempting to accelerate, even from full stop. Just wondering if this is normal? Someone told me to do a complete reset of the system , i.e. remove battery terminals, wait for 5 min and connect them back again. Basically, it would reset the adaptive shift transmission system and then vehicle will learn again. I am wondering if this will help. Please help as it's un-necessarily eating up +$4 gas costs, these days.
