After searching all the previous sunroof rattle posts, I haven't found an answer that really fits my situation.

My sunroof started rattling a couple months ago. It has been getting progressively worse, and now it has driven me completely insane. I can't find the exact location of the rattle, but it's not the headliner. Pressing up against the front of the sunroof glass, about six inches from the driver's side of the glass, will cause the rattle to stop (until I let go).

I'm out of warranty (sixty-two thousand bla bla bla miles), so taking it to the dealer is out of the question (forever x $80/hour costs a he11 of a lot of money for them to still not find the rattle). I saw a listing on eBay a while back for an owners manual and sunroof adjustment kit. Does anyone else have this kit, and if so, what exactly does it include? Any other ideas on what to adjust/repair/replace/stuff some foam?

I love Mep, but I'm at the point I can't stand to drive her anymore. As always, any advice is welcome.

We had a recent poster here that finally cleared up the mystery of

the difference between a Sunroof & Moonroof. The Sunroof is Metal, the

Moonroof is Glass. No one here caught that. I guess I can see through Metal!

My Sunroof makes no noise aside from an occasional click. My Subaru

Forrester Sunroof put on a frickin' Sonata :P

However if it makes you feel any better, you were really out of Warranty

at the end of the "adjustment period" which lasts for One Year or 12,000 Miles

Robbie,
I'd place my $$$ on the deflector that pops up when you open the roof. I just opened mine (glass one :w00t: ) and looked for possible places a rattle could come from and that's where I would look first. If it was mine making the noise I would place some duct tape on the lower portion of the deflector from front to back and hope for the best.

At last resort we'll ship* you off to Colorado to GEWB....the annoying vibration expert. Thanks for the glovebox rattle fix Gary.

* at your expense mind you.

Man, some of you put a lot of miles on your rigs. 3 years on the road and I'm at 30.5K.

It's a good thing you didn't ACTUALLY place money on the deflector. I tried that already. :P

OK....you'll be lookin' at trip to Colorado. Make sure you take your "PREPAID" H-F Mastercard with you for gas. Lodging and food are on you or GEWB I should add.

You might want to go talk to your dealer they might have experienced this. A dozen doughnuts can go a long way.

Has anyone tried lubricating the rubber seals around the sunroof?

I have a rattle too.. closed or open.. if I push up on the headliner just behind and to the right of the driver seat it goes away.

It's in the dealership Friday morning.. we'll see what happens, but the lady who made the appointment said that maybe it was just an adjustment.. dunno what the **** they can adjust if it's in the headliner somewhere
