im having a **** of a time getting the vss off. i can get the wires and the hold down screw off but the unit itself wont budge. i havent wacked it with a mallet of anything cause im afraid itll break off. ive tried tugging and twisting it to no avail. ive been driving it but my speedo doesnt work and its getting real annoying. theirs gotta be a trick to it.

Vehicle speed sensor. Located at the top of the transmission, with a connecter plugged in to it. Sends speed signal to the speedometer.

I've never taken one out, but I know that it has to seal to keep trans fluid from leaking out, so it's got an O-ring on it... it's probably just in there tight because it's the original one. The location of it makes it hard to grab on to and take out.

thats the one. it does have an oring on it. it seems to be in thier super tight. im really worried about snapping it off in the tranny. if i cant find a trick or something im gonna have to just go for it but im really waiting to find a trick.

Shoult just pop out. Since you unbolted it, find a bigger screw in your garage and screw it into the plastic and use pliers on it. Or use a flat head and pry it out.


Mine popped out.

ill give that a try. does it look like it could break off in the tranny? i mean how strong is the unit. thats my biggest concern.

got it. you need an adjustable wrench and need to go under the car. trying to get it from the top resulted in a broken top. its a threaded fitting too. you dont need to play with the oring unless you break the top off.
