Hello All,
Good Day,

I am about to buy the new Hyundai Matrix 2009 and i live in Egypt at the moment. I want to know the egyptian specifications for this car and whether if it is a good car or not. Generally, in cars, all i care about is the mechanics of the car. Since my country is full of many bumping roads and open sewers, i am afraid to buy a car that can not handle all these environments.

And my question is: why the heck our dealers in egypt took off the airbags and the ABS/EBD systems? they are a safety specs and they are very important

If anyone lives in egypt and bought this car so please advise me before buying it

Thanks in Advance

i don't live in Egypt, but one reason is probably the road conditions you mentioned..
the air bags could get deployed occasionally on hard bumps, sewer, etc. and fixing them would be expensive. :innocent:

Hi there,

I have got to my wife the 2008 model (84,000 L.E.), i wasn't really convinced with the car at first cause i prefer the japanese ones but when i drove it i found that it is a very very good car. Its very comfortable with large space inside & very good options, its motor, acceleration, handling, A.C. are almost the same like the japanese ones.

After my personal trial, for sure I recommend it for u

The 2008 model is the same chasis, motor & inside options like the 2009 model (93,000 L.E.) except for some external differences (Back & front Bumpers, Front Lights & Motor cover).

Concerning the safety specs. (airbags and ABS/EBD systems) i think it is remove for cutting expenses so that the car price could be reasonable

Although i heard at the service center that the Matrix ABS/EBD systems are available for installation & they cost about 7,000 L.E.

best regards

Hi to all!

I also live in alexandria, Egypt. I have a 2006 Matrix manual transmission. The car is just beautiful. I have to admit that it is lightly used, generally for travel or during weekends, 21000 km until now. But i have to say that i didn't face a single problem with the car, and without doing the periodic maintenance at 5000 km. I only did the maintenance at 1000km and then recently at 20000km (i use fully synthetic oil).

The car design is great, plenty of interior room that exceeds your needs, specially that the rear seats can move forward on rails, the back of the seat bent, or the whole seat folded. Dont worry about bumps because the car clearance is higher than most passenger cars.

But... i have to mention that in 2006 it was imported from Korea, whereas starting 2007 (and including the face-lift model) are imported from Turkey. Note that Turkey does not just assemble the car parts like we do in Egypt, but they manufacture many parts of the vehicle. You have to question the reliability and durability of these parts!

As for the safety features that are removed, they add a lot to the customs value of the car. That's why the dealer imports the car without these features.

Overall, this is the best value for money that you can find on the market today.

Good luck.
