Hello All,

Recently i got Engine check light on the car. After scanning with my colleague's code reader i found P0130 OBD on my engine checkup.

P0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

From previous post i found that its the sensor thats closest to the engine and its attached with the exaust manifold. I am in uk and the car i have is 1350 CC 2001 hyndai accent gls. So i thougt its better to take advice from others and proceed for replacement or repair.

After a lot of googling i found that usually its not the case of replacing the O2 sensor but matter of cleaning the joints or disconnection of one of the wires or some loose connections in other parts.

I thought its best to try before i replace it because here in uk i have been given quotation of £110 = 220 US$ which is way to hight ...

I have attached the picture ... please tell me if i am at the right location ... and advice for repairs.

appreciate your help in advance,

thank you ..

Mihir Sangani

Hello All,

I replaced the sensor ... but after 10 days ... i went to motoway and drove @ 80 MPH... bang ... the engine check light is back ... i havent had the code read as yet ..because its too expensive here in uk to get the code readed .... 30£ for just code reading .. :((

anyone in scotland ?? who knows where can we get the code read for free ??

any other ideas ? why the light is back .. i suspect some issue with the air leak through some place in the exaust assembly.

afbtstix: I will check this saction for some potential leaks.... thanks

RetsaM : I tried to remove the battery leads and reconnect them after 5 mins ... and the engine check light was gone

thanks

Mihir

In answer to the questions in your pictures...
Yes...
The big silver thing is actually the heat shield which covers the exhaust manifold...
That is also sensor 1 bank 1...

Here is Aus we only have 1 O2 sensor and its right there in the middle of the manifold...

I have read alot of people getting these errors when they perform some sort of exhaust modification...

You could try cleaning the sensor but be very careful...

Also i would check the connections at the plug, also do a continuity test of the wires to make sure they are not broken at some point in the insulation...

Cheers

:liebe011:
thanks all for the response, The engine check light is still on and i guess the replacement didnt fix the problems. I will diagnose the wiring now ... and so on . .. as per the posts...

here is a new problem with the car :o

I am in scotland, and its freezing cold in the night. Now sometimes my car will refuse to start even if i see the battery being changed enough. It will eventually start if i push it .. and then start with the 2nd gear (kick start ???) but it will not start with battery shelf ...

where do I start teh trouble shooint ???

thanks again :liebe011:

Mihir
