Had a problem today just after completing my Genesis purchase, and I wanted to post it here in case anyone else has the same problem; I'm hoping it's a one-time bit of wonkiness.
I had test-driven the car for most of the day, taking it home to show my wife, and had used all the technology with no problem. However, when I got into the car to drive it home this afternoon, the first problem that occurred was there was no sound from any audio source; I'd turn the volume up from both the steering wheel and the primary volume control on the dash, but there was no sound.
Took it back to the dealer, and just as they were about to look at it, I pushed the button for "surround" in system setup and the sound started. Okay, I thought, it was an oddity.
I drove off, only to find that I now couldn't turn the sound up, down, or off. The volume control did nothing. I tried to make a bluetooth call, but the audio system played right on top of it and it didn't work. So I tried to turn the audio system off. Pushed the button, the words "AV off" displayed, but music kept right on playing.
Took it back to the dealer immediately, and discovered that I couldn't turn the audio system off even when I turned the car off entirely and walked off with the keys. It just kept playing like some Korean version of Christine...
The dealer finally had to pull the battery connector cables to cut power; that seems to have re-set the system, and it's working right now. I'm hoping for no repeats, but if anyone else has a similar problem, then we know that there's some sort of design glitch.
(The sales manager also showed me where the fusebox is on the inside door jamb near the dash; he identified the audio fuse and said I could pull that to reset it rather than messing with battery cables and it should do the same thing. I'm hoping I never have to find out.)
