I got the chance to take a drive to visit a friend in Gulf Shores for a few days. I got all geeky on the mpg's and speed. You are the only people who care,e so here :P

2008 Manual GS, 9k miles on it, oiled changed at dealer blah blah blah.

252 miles @ 44 mpg - This was 100% highway miles @ 65-70 mph, slower up hills with no ac and faster on the down hills with ac.

243 miles @ 32 mpg - This was 60% highway and 40% driving at odd hours looking for a liquor store, etc etc etc...OH and going to the beach I think

The car is a beast to sit in for 6 hours straight, but not toooooo bad. The trip home gave me similar numbers, but I was ready to come home so I wasnt as consistent with the speeds. Kinda haulin ****(80-85) I got 35 mpg on the highway, but I got lost, uh, anyways :whistling:

I recently went to Ocean City, MD from PA... There was a car fire on 476 and crazy traffic through DE and traffic backed up for 8 miles leading into Ocean City. We sat in the car that day for **** near 7 hours.

I was pretty stoked that even with all the idling we did sitting in traffic and the fact that we had to stop for toll booths and re-accelerate to highway speeds... I still got 34 MPG on that tank.

What was your terrain like when you traveled 705Kms on a tank of gas? If my wife let's me, I might take a shot at cracking 700Kms with her Accent. Right now, her no mods Accent seems to be very well tuned. Once I went considerably over 800Kms with my 88 carbureted Ford Festiva on less than 10 gallons. My old Festiva is very well tuned right now too.

The Accent driver seat isn't as intrinsically comfortable as in my Dodge Caliber.

I've got a bad back. But the 8-way Accent adjustment helps to get the positions(change it once in a while) I need to be pretty comfortable. Are you having difficulty getting a good position. The armrest helps too. & like you, the spectacular MPG really sooths my pains.

nah I have the GS, it only has the back adjustment. it seems my only real problem are my long legs. in order to feel comfortable with the steering wheel i have to sit closer then my legs would like, so my right leg was bunched up the whole time. Like I said tho it wasnt too bad, I used to take long trips in an old VW Bug :) And yes since you mentioned it, about half way there I realized I HAD an armrest lol and that seemed to help me out a bit. I'm still floored I got over 40 MPG
