I had CEL on and Autozone said it's something with the accident sensor. Unfortunately, after taking it to Hyundai they said it's nothing and reset the CEL, I forgot the number. The CEL has again re-appeared and I am sure it's the same cause. Digging forums, I realize there are TWO accident sensors connected to the air-intake (FRONT) of the engine. Question: (a) Is this a normal phenomenon for Hyundai SF 2004 (under 60k) to occur? Why i ask is because the rep was telling me it's very unusual error code and kept "harping" on the fact that I might have "hit" something, did something, etc. etc. (B) They were also telling me, since I recently changed my timing belt, etc. this is because of that and they need to re-do the whole timing belt ($850) and I should pay for it. Alternatively, I can take the car back to the same rep. where I changed the timing belt. Unfortunately, that's very, very difficult since it's a 4 hr. drive for me. Any help - appreciated.

Well if Autozone pulled something that came up as an Accident Sensor (something I've never heard of before), it should have had a numerical code attached to it. Do you recall if they gave you a number of any sort?

That will help us help you greatly. :57:

Edit: I'm an idiot and didn't read over your post. That little attention deficit thing is annoying. :whistling: Anyway, so now I see that you've forgotten the number.

When I had my center console out, I found the airbag control module (fore of the shift mechanism and to the right a wee bit). I'm sure that deceleration sensors in the front of the vehicle chit-chat with this module to determine if airbag deployment is necessary.

However, it strikes me as odd that an Accident Sensor (what ever that might be) would trip a CEL. I would suspect it to trip an airbag light if anything. A faulty speed sensor would throw a CEL but anything airbag or safety system related will trigger the SRS light.

Best of luck to you.

If the light comes on again, go back to Autozone and come back to us with the code itself.
