Here's what I put on my '06 GLS V6:

Hidden Hitch:
Hidden Hitch

Wiring:
Wiring Harness

It's worked out well for me (and my father bought the same for his '06 Sonata).

Dholly did a great write up on this topic in the DYI section:
http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t25760-nf-so...tch-install.htm
I followed his guidance and put a CURT hitch on my 09 Sonata. It really went very well and I am very pleased with the results. I too ride a bike and that is exactly why I put a hitch on my car. Good Luck.

I have a Curt hitch on order with a local dealer.

They recommended it for the same reasons that Dholly suggested, and said that they have had very good reviews from past users.

I installed a Reese Class 1 Hitch, Drop dead simple, and fits perfectly. I don't know why all the fuss over Curt Hitches as class 1 is class 1 - same tow and load rating as all the others and Reese is usually cheaper and more readily available.

Post edit:

BTW - My Reese hitch included drawbar and hitch pin in the price.

I wanted a DSP hitch, since they're made locally and I know the owners, but they don't make one, so I went with the Curt due to it having two more bolting points.

QUOTE(dholly)
I chose to use the most expensive Curt hitch for three reasons:

- Utilizes more secure 5-point attach vs. 3-point to eliminate potential twist and strain on the tow loop
- WeatherTite construction prevents rusting from the inside out by sealing the hitch crosstube
- Ballmount, pin and clip are included ($19.95 value)

The ballmount, pin and clip pretty much made the price equal to buying any of the other easily accessible hitches, so it was a simple choice.

Yep and I like the idea of 5 attachment points rather than 3.
I am sure they are all good but after seeing the curt. I am glad I went that way.

FWIW,

I just had the dealership install a hitch on my 2009 Sonata. I was already getting a couple of other accessories, so I thought it would be a good idea to just have that done at the same time.

Bad idea.

Not because of the hitch, though. It's a decent Draw-Tite model.
http://site.drawtite.com/dynamic_cart/cart...hp?ProdID=24757

Bad idea because of the price. I paid $350 for the hitch and installation. Could have easily bought one on-line for a about $120, and installed it myself in 30 minutes. The mounts are already there, you just need to notch a piece of plastic to get it to fit 100%. Looks like a very, very easy install.

I use mine for a hitch-mounted bike rack. I've always like the idea of having the bikes and rack not touching any painted surface, so I spring for a hitch on my "towing" car.
