Since Im new to owning a diesel vehicle, I got into a discussion with a friend of mine who has been driving trucks for many years, yes the truckies are going to be striking for a couple of weeks and I dont blame them at all, but thats another thread perhaps.

Time to stock up on groceries is my advice.

NEVER let your car run low on diesel, not only does it overheat the fuel system, the whole system will have to be purged of air and considering these cars are still relatively new, and thus the support is also new, it can be very costly and time consuming to get it done.

This is just a word of warning for those that think you can carry a jerry can of diesel and pour it in after running out of diesel and restart, do so at your own risk.

turbo1600, good to see you again m8.
the old diesel set up, you needed to ( like bleeding air from a brake ) but these new one's do it there self. i found this out when my nephew got a new Nissan 2.5 turbo diesel 4WD and ran out of fuel when he came to visit. there is a button on top of fuel filter , just like the i30 has. we put fuel in it from a tin but would not start. we pushed the button to purge air but still would not start. he was parked in a hill and he phoned nissan support, they advised to park it on a leavel surface and said it will self purge. so we rolled it to level ground and turned motor over again and it fired up ran ok, i might add it's an auto. the old ones when you get water in fuel filter they stop and you have to pump the water out befor they will restart. but these new one's are more user friendly. as they know girls don't like driving around smelling like diesel mechanic's.
