I’m really pleasant with the car and a dealer. I’d like to purchase tomorrow, however I’d like to be sure that I do not lower price too much.

Got these figures from the Edmunds website:

V6 Genesis MSRP Invoice

Car 32250 30243
Transportation 750 750
04 Technology Pkg 7000 6370

40000 37363

V8 Genesis

Car 37250 34521
Transportation 750 750
05 Technology Pkg 4000 3640

42000 38911

The costs of the V6 Premium and Premium Plus packages are also on the Edmunds website - I'm most interested in either Genesis with the Technology package so I didn't copy them down.

Probably be awhile before the rebates and/or price reductions show up on the V6, even longer for the V8 once it gets here.

Edmunds also listed the EPA mileage estimates for each motor: V6 18/27, V8 17/25. Have not read, independent from Edmunds, that the EPA has published V8 figures yet. Good luck with your purchase.

There is about $2500-$3000 markup in the Genesis from invoice price to sticker, depending on trim level (more markup as you go up in trim level). There is the most markup of any current Hyundai model, believe it or not. There's not much wiggle room.

Be careful tho, because I know here at our delearship we have more demand than we have Genesis to sell, so if you don't buy it for X dollars, someone else will...

Just to keep you all informed, my dealer has received 5 Genesis and has put a dealer markup of $5900 on each vehicle. I told them that this is out and out gouging. I did take the base model for a test drive. It is a well put together car and is definitely a step up from my Azera, but not with a mark up. I will be thinking about the car, more seriously in about a year. The rebates will be kicking in, mark my words and in a years time they will get the kinks out of the car, if any. Don

Your a salesperson favorite customer. You should start your price low. Make them work for it. The dealer is in it for the money and thats all. Make sure to look at the internet price of the car, most of the time (not all the time, but most) its a lot less than the sticker price.

That's absolutely correct. However, we have received 5 Genesis to date, and only sold one. It seems that all of our customers either want the V6 with the tech package, or are waiting for the V8.

Either that or they're just full of BS and don't really want the car as much as they say they do. We had tons of interest until we actually got the cars in. If this is true nationwide as well, then we may get rebates sooner than we think, which is good for the customer.

Sweet. How was the transaction with the dealership? Did you negotiate a price or did they tell you what the price is? Are you financing or did you buy outright? Did you have to put any money down?

Just curious 'cause I've never actually known someone who bought a car that wasn't on the lot. Thanks in advance.

Well, sounds like it's time to take a vacation to the good old U.S. of A. You could have yourself a grand old time, stay in a nice hotel, come home with a nice shiny new Genesis 4.6, and still have thousands left over!

BINGO!!!! A lot of people say things they don't really mean when just answering questions, now when asked to cough up the dough that's another story.
I think the V8 is a dead duck, sure they'll sell a few, but the big winner will be the V6 if they adjust the price, here in Canada in that price range we have more established Luxo marques to chose from and Hyundai hasn't created a demand for the Genesis either via the PROPER advertising of the Azera nor via any REAL advertsing for the Genesis and btw where is the Santa Cruz, hardly ever hear of it now. Sad to see opportunities being squandered and don't believe them when they say Hyundai doesn't want to advertise because thare is a shortage of product and they don't want to disappoint customers, that's a lot of........since when is Hyundai concerned about disappointing its customers!

being the 21st century, i emailed 3 dealers and told them to give me their best price, and that i was only going to ask once, no dickering around. they all came back with a MSRP of $45k, which was wrong, but this is what the regional rep told them, which only one of them dropped the price another $2500 off that. when i got the MSRP sorted out, i told him we had a deal. the salesman told me that his manager said he wanted to get one out there with their name on it. they also said that they were not going to carry any V8s in inventory due to it going into the fall and 'with the economy'. i put $1000 down on the car, there is no trade involved in the deal, and will finance about 75% of the total amount.

he did tell me that the regional rep told him that a ship with V8s had just off loaded, yet they hadn't been allocated yet. i don't know if this is BS or not, but he felt that he could get the car a bit quicker than most dealers since they actually have a buyer for it with money down.

Just noticed your from New England. Where abouts? I live in the MA on the South Coast.

Also, you mentioned 45k-2500= $42,500. What was the msrp that you had worked out to get down to $39,500?

Maine. the msrp with the technology package and delivery costs ($750) is $42,000. for some reason the zone manager was telling the dealer that is was $45,000. i guess they haven't sold too many yet......
