Hi all,

My Sonata 2007 has been manufactured in May 2006. Do you think it has been affected by the timing chain tensioner issue? As per the TSB, all Sonatas with 3.3 engines manufactured from 2005 to August 2006 have this problem.

My engine has now 35,000 Km and definitely more noisy at all time than new.

Should I request/obligate the dealer to repair it?

I don't have any other argument than “more noisy ". Is the dealer has the right to refuse to repair if there's no failure?

Am I a bit paranoid?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Charles

charles,
Make an appt with your dealer and have them look over your car. Make sure you have a copy of the TSB with you.

Go in and tell them it has a loud rattle in the engine when you first start it in the morning. It will get the tensioner job done to it, no problem.

This is a common enough issue that you SHOULDN'T have to bring the TSB with you, but I would just in case. Not all service writers are very smart... lol.
