I have probably one of the first released i30 SR manaul petrol cars, purchased in Australia December 2007.
Since new we have had a problem with it stalling on rollout, you have to rev the engine to stop it from stalling.
When we told the dealer where we purchased the car about it months later, he said that there is a software update to fix the problem and to get the new software at our next service. At our next service interstate the Hyundai service center new nothing of the update.
Does anyone know of a software update for the i30 manual?

You are one of the 1st i30 owners to register any significant problems... We have over 150 i30 owners at www.i30ownersclub.com so you might get a better response if you register there and repost your questions.

In regards to your problems with the buckled SR alloys, I am surprised you didn't have problems with vibrations through the body or the steering wheel... :puzzled:

Regards,

Dazz

Thank you! I thought i was the only one with this problem.. I bought an i30 slx petrol in October 2007. Ever since new, when "taking off" unless you have the revs up a bit, the mongrel will stall. First I put it down to my driving (which is funny as this is the first car i've ever stalled like this in my life) Since then I've been putting it down to the gutless / torqueless engine... The problem is so bad that whenever I stop at a traffic light, junction etc.. I have to turn the stereo down so I can hear the engine (which is difficult as the motor is pretty quiet at idle - bit noisier when you put the foot down though heheh) Never entered my head that it could be an electronic problem... will ask about it when I have it serviced next...

I have the same experience with my i30 SR, though i've always thought of it as the down side to having such a quiet car. I'll be interested to see if there is anything that can be done about it.

Don't worry Loft, i've had more than my share of embarrassing moments at the lights. :crying:

Tim

Sory to hear about your problem, i never drove a petrol i30, so not sure what they feel like.
but while looking for a new car ( turbo diesel) i found both the Ford Focus turbo diesel and the Mazda 3 Turbo Diesel, both stalled easy, i was surprised how easy the CRDi i30 was to drive, i can let the clutch out without touching the throttle and the car will move off without stalling even on a hill, makes it nice to drive in traffic.

i30SROwner,

I can identify with the stalling issues. I don't have a petrol i30 (ours is diesel), but we do have a petrol Getz 1.6. The engine is so quiet that when we first got it it was hard to determine whether you had enough revs when taking off. My wife and I stalled it so many times we lost count. The two teenage girls were so embarrassed. My wife doesn't have problems now (it is her car and she drives it a lot) but when I drive it I have to be so careful.
