I recently bought a new 2008 Elantra SE fully loaded with Tinted Windows, Leather, Heated Seats, and XM. I waited over a month to get my hands on this SE. The one option I wanted but was unwilling to wait for was a factory installed Bluetooth. I have re-searched online and there appears to be an aftermarket Bluetooth option available. However, when I went back to my dealer, they said only the factory can install bluetooth. Is this true?? I have found several websites offering aftermarket bluetooth kits for the 08 Elantra. Has anyone had bluetooth installed after purchasing the car? Let me know your experience and what the best course of action should be. Where do the buttons for the bluetooth go in the interior? Does it work well when installed aftermarket? Does it sync with the radio? Please advise!

Thanks!!

this is the factory bluetooth, mainly just to show you where it would be, right near the sunglasses pocket. I test drove an 08 with the bluetooth... it's really nice, but an aftermarket would work just fine. I'm installing a pioneer avic-n4 with bluetooth soon in my 07 and i don't see why that wouldn't work or any other aftermarket system. Most just tap into the speakers so there shouldn't be any restrictions. There is also some aftermarket bluetooth systems that have their own speakers with it which would also work.

Does anyone know how I would have this installed?? Would the dealership do it? The dealership I originally bought the car from did not seem to even know an aftermarket bluetooth was available.

Tell your dealership they need to read their parts bulletins on Hyundaidealer.com. Hyundai provides this information to the dealers, but it is the parts department's job to keep up with the new parts bulletins. This bulletin is dated 7/18/2008.

Here are the part numbers for the Elantra bluetooth kits, by color and with or without sunroof:

Beige no sunroof: U8780-2H000-4W
Gray no sunroof: U8780-2H000-8M

Beige with sunroof: U8781-2H000-4W
Gray with sunroof: U8781-2H000-8M

They are dealer installed options, which means that your dealer can install them. That's provided that the genious service department can figure out how to read the directions...

My Elantra had the bluetooth already installed - the salesman I worked with said he's only seen a handful with it already in. I find it to be useful, especially since Connecticut hands out a hefty fine if you are caught using a cell phone while driving. Anyways, this website has the installation and compatible phone info for the blueconnect - http://www.jciblueconnect.com/help.taf
Hope you are able to get your bluetooth.

Does anyone have pictures of Bluetooth installed in the interior of their car? I am curious where the device goes. I know it does up by my sunroof buttons on the roof, but i dont know exactly where. Is it supposed to go where the sunglass holder is?

The installation instructions have a photo of the unit installed in the headliner in front of the driver's side visor.
