Hey Folks it's me again. My car has always had some trouble with the AC. Once I changed the condenser and it was working fine until one time while driving it discharged all the "gas" of the airconditioning. Last week I filled it up again and today it discharged again. What could be the problem ?

Let me know 'cause it's hot here in the islands !

well you have obviously got a gas leak, when you get it recharged ask them to put a dye in it so you can identify where the leak is

Dear grayreef,

Yes, concur with Montego. Here in the US ( but can be ordered in Curacao) you can get a leak test kit with a small UV flashlight, special can of UV dye/refrigerant, and funky yellow sunglasses. http://www.id-usa.com/catalog.asp?CID=30

Back to the leak. Your Santa Fe AC is a sealed system. You have silicon O-rings at each connection ( compressor to hi-pressure line, hi-pressure line to evaporator, evaporator to low-pressure, etc). Since you had your entire refrigerant leak out, what changed? Did you get a puncture in one of the lines (most likely)? Did you fail to torque the condenser line connections, or cut the O-rings during the installation? Do you have dirt in the low-pressure coupler valve, preventing a proper close seal?

Byron

Byron thanks for your reaction, I apreciate it very much. I have one question though. If the problem is a leak, how come it discharge all the gas in one time and so suddenly ? If it's leak isn't it suppose to leak slowly ? The AC worked for about a week with no problems...then suddenly....all gas gone and you can see the gas coming out from undet the hood.

Thanks.
