I'm doing some research on the Sonata's, either an 08 or 09, not sure yet. When I play around on Hyundai's website and build my own, I don't see power moonroof as an available option. I saw SUNroof though, as part of their popular package. When you go to a dealer do you HAVE to get an entire package to get certain things?

I want a black sonata with grey interior, power moonroof, rear spoilers, bluetooth connectivity, stereo upgrade, and the nicer wheels...That's it. I don't want all the other stuff that comes with these "packages"... Do they let you pick and choose like that?

Thanks for the info.. .Let me know what options you chose and how they worked out...!

The Japanese and Korean companies (and for what I know possibly all the companies these days) generally make you take packages. That is the way they build them. I too remember the days you could order a car from the US companies with exactly the options you wanted. Those days are gone with most companies. Some things you can buy from the dealer such as teh spoiler, but from the factory I believe the spoiler only comes on the SE.

So wait, if I want the GLS, I can't add certain options? ****! I really want certain things but I don't want to spend 25k on the higher end models. Is it possible to get a GLS with moonroof and I-Pod hookup and bluetooth?

On the GLS you must buy the Popular Equipment Package With Sunroof. Get the 09, the 09 4 cyl. is head and shoulders better than the 08. Also, there are no more 08's available, they were sold out by May. The GLS Popular Equipment With Sunroof is a very rare option package, you may not be able to get it in the color you want. If you are in Long Island, NY, I work at Atlantic Hyundai and would be able to help you.

I'm leaning in that direction. But I don't want a sunroof, I want a moonroof...sunroof's are the ones that don't open all the way, right? Boo...

Sunroof and Moonroof is the same thing. They ALL open up all the way and are power. The 09 comes with the Ipod connection but no bluetooth. You can purchase a bluetooth that goes into the sunglass holder.

I've got an 09 Sonata GLS 2.4L with the Popular Equipment + Sunroof Package, which includes power sunroof with tilt and slide; power driver's seat; driver's lumbar support; automatic light control; steering wheel audio controls; trip computer; woodgrain accents; and chrome window belt moldings. Package price was $1,550, and total sticker price was $21,725. iPod cable was an additional $29.95 extra from the dealer. To me, the car was the near perfect combination of options and price, with the exception of the steel wheels and wheel covers. I corrected the issue of the wheels relatively inexpensively by putting aftermarket alloy wheels on the OEM tires.

You CAN still custom order cars from Some manufacturers, but your order gets put last in line behind their regular production.

My brother ordered a chevy truck with a unique combo of options and they said he would be waiting 6-18 months for it.

IMO, just pick the car which is closest to what you want and make the dealer a ridiculously low offer :)

It is a matter of option packaging and semantics (Beemers have two wheels and Bimmers have four) ,on my '07 I had to get and upgraded stereo to get the moon roof (moon roofs are glass, you can see the moon at night with glass closed if it is not overcast), and sun roofs are metal.

The term moonroof is obnoxious.

If you need the moon to navigate, you really ought to buy a Garmin gps. :D

:puzzled:
I never could figure out why any person driving a car with air would need or even want a Moon - Sun or any open roof. I had one and I think it got opened once when my grand daughter wanted to see what it was like, and the second time when the control computer lost it's mind and it would open by itself. The thing was noisy when open and just reduced the headroom in the passenger compartment.

I ended up disconnecting it rather than paying $900 dollars to fix it. BTW it was a Toyota Cressida that I did run for nearly 20 years. Great car but stupid "options".

I ended up going w/ the 09 Limited, it basically has every option standard, only option is NAV. With the bluetooth, I have not found one with it & actually still can't even get it yet, it is a Hyundai $325 option, but still can't get it :(

Either I have X Ray vision or I can see through my "Metal" Moon Roof. It

is Glass, :whistling: it opens al the way, and it is spectacular!

Miami LX checking in from LA. They had an Earthquake here yesterday. I

missed it, but have been through plenty of them.
