Hey Folks!

Newbie to forum: Just bought a 2008 Elantra SE and took 3 weeks to figure out that I had an active XM radio! Dealer never mentioned it was activated or how to use it---big surprise!

Anyway, now that I have about 9 weeks left on the trial, I was wondering if anyone knows about extending the subscription?

I've read alot about people getting a $77 per year deal and I would go for that if I can get it.

So I have no paperwork on any XM account, not registered online with XM. I've read that people get offers or contacted by XM once the trial ends, but if I've never registered with XM, how would they know to contact me? Did the dealer give XM my info?

Any suggestions? :liebe011:

In my case, XM started hounding me by phone 2 or 3 times a week after I had the Elantra for about 6 weeks. I can't remember the exact amount, but after saying "no" a few times, they came up with a pretty good deal for the first year. I think it goes up to about $15/month after that if I decide to keep it (which I probably won't).

Mine has been on for free trial since February. I thought I would let it run out, but I really like it. When it does stop I will probably do the $77/year deal.

Your XM info for subscribing is on channel 1 or 0 or something like that.

I had it in my 08 Sonata. I let it expire, and about two to three months after it expired they called me and offered me one year for about 55. I went ahead and took it.

The dealer should have sent all your info to XM so they can contact you.

I also got calls within a couple weeks after purchase. They offered me a deal on a 3 month extension (after free trial) for $5 a month. So I took it. After that, I will search or ask for a good deal on a year service. Now that the XM/Sirius merge will happen, it may be a little tough to get the better deals.
