I just looked in the manual of a 2006-2007 Sonata. It says that there is a 12V socket in the trunk. I have searched this forum using "12V Trunk," nothing comes up.

Where is it located?

I have a 2007 Limited.

You can delete this if I read it incorrectly.

If there is one in the trunk it could help out with tailgating season coming up. :)

yes, there should be one in your trunk... if you are behind your car looking into the trunk, look on the right hand side near the bottom of the trunk, right behind the wheel well.. there is a 12V socket there...

I only saw the connection for the cargo net. I'll have to check later.

its about 3 or 4 inches below that... right down near the floor of the trunk...

That actually isn't a mount for the cargo net, but for grocery bags. The net has screws that you will install on the upright sides of the trunk opening itself.

ddix is right about the location of the 12 volt socket though, it is a black plastic cap and should have white writing on it, and the entire plug is about 2x1.5" It should be quite easy to see and rather obvious once you stick your head in there.

I just checked in the trunk of my car. I see the area that you all are talking about, however in mine there is nothing in that spot. I wonder if the dealer put in a new trunk lining and that piece wasn't cut out. (I purchased my car used). I would think since its a '07 limited it would have everything in it. It has the upgraded sound system and sunroof. I do have the two 12V plugs in the front of the car. One for the lighter (I don't smoke) and the other for a device.

I don't have time tonight to take a picture and post it or a video of my trunk. I will try and remember to do it on Sunday evening.

Thanks.

mine was used when i bought it too... maybe they did put something over it... seems kind of strange though... it has to be there (im sure it is... you might want to feel around that area over the trunk lining to see if you feel something underneath)

Skimmed over my 08 and didn't see anything either. It's an SE, if that makes any difference... It's a shame too. I wondered about trying to have some sort of jump starter back there charging  Mom's battery in her Liberty was totally dead today, so it got me thinking about it. Well as long as I'm home, we still have my old Cherokee to drive/jump things off :57:

Heh, maybe the 06s were best of the breed. Horrible paint and an extra 12v outlet :D

:amen: have to agree with that--just look at your paint and a blemish will magically appear :whistling: --my 06 has the outlet--but it is useless unless your key is turned on--real pain not being able to charge phone and gps unit in car while i am at work

My 06 lx's have 12 volt sockets in the trunk - lucky me - never used them.

TIP - Buy an SUV - they got 12v sockets all over the place.

1. Notice the "grocery bag" hook on the top.

2. Notice the 12 voly outlet below it. :w00t: 06 owners ONLY...pioneers we were. Blazed the Overland Park trail. :whistling:

3. I feel like the the member that posted pics of the two washer tilt for the front seat on a Saturday. :liebe011:

4. Somebody needs their Sonata stolen/shot at/totaled (hope you weren't in the car)/thing.

5. Gettin' kinda boring around here. :bwekk:

6. Mr. Star I'm surprised you don't have a "fuse" tester....doesn't a continuity tester count?

Yeah, that looks exactly like the one up front... And I saw that spot in my trunk. If the panneling is easy enough to pull away, I might look to see if there are some wires back there. I may add one if the wires are still avaliable.

And I too am a bit disappointed in how the power jacks only work when the car's on. I know my mom's Liberty is powered all the time and that's where she charges her phone... Heh, I don't think she's ever charged it inside the house.
