QUOTE(CJohnston @ Jul 24 2008, 08:06 AM) Yes, that's how cruise control is designed to work. It's been that way in every vehicle I've driven. In imperial measurements, a single click on either resume or coast will yield ~ 1mph increase/decrease in speed...
I use this feature all the time. It's great for making small adjustments in cruising speed!
Ill second that.. has been that way in every car i have used it in

QUOTE(AsmGuru62 @ Jul 24 2008, 06:53 AM) Yesterday I was driving to work on HWY 407 and stumbled upon something strange with my Cruise Control system (I have Sonata V6 2007). I am not sure if it is an issue or a feature.
So, I usually go between 110 and 120 kms/hour on CC. So, I manipulate with "Cancel" and "Res Accel" buttons when needed to drop some speed or to get back to SET speed.
I found out the strange thing - when I go already on CC and I see two green lights ON: "CRUISE" and "SET" - each time I press "Res Accel" - the car gains a couple of kms/hour and stays at that speed. I was thinking that this button for only getting back to the set speed and no more - however, seems it also gains in small increments. At first I thought it is an issue in software, but now I am thinking that it is designed to be that way. Not sure... I will check the manual, maybe it has some note about such feature.
Does anyone else have seen this?
Does the same thing in my car too. 2007 Limited. Mine didn't come with a manual so if you have the instructions can you post. Perhaps, I might learn any other feature the car has.

Heck, if I'm not mistaken (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), I think even the 1977 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight that I drove when I first started driving functioned that way... I wouldn't want to be putting gas in THAT thing today... 403cid w/ Carter 4-bbl, UGH!

Why not go to the dealer and BUY a manual, you'll find it very useful.

yeah, that's what the "Accel" part of Res Accel is.. it means if you are off Cruise Set with the cruise still on (one green light) it will get you back to your last cruise speed.. if you have the cruise set already, the "Accel" part kicks in ("Accelerate").. if you actually held down the Accel button for a few seconds, it would mash on the gas and accelerate until you let it go... as CJohnston said, i think its actually a benefit of being able to increase your speed incrementally (quick "click") or quickly (press and hold).. i dont use it too much for increase/decrease (i do that myself), but its a good feature..

That's the right explanation.

I've not fiddled around with the cruse on my Sonata enough to know how much it accelerates, but as people have said, that's kind of the purpose of the "accel" button :P I know my Cherokee would gain about 3MPH each time you tapped it, or if you held it would accelerate until you let off and then hold that speed.
Hehehe, now here's an interesting feature my Cherokee has. Probably some flaw from having a vacuum driven system or something... I can't recall exactly how to provoke this, but I believe if the jeep's coasting/slowing down and you press SET on cruse, the thing freaks out! It takes off hard and will usually jump about 20MPH over where you press set :P

QUOTE(MiamiLX @ Jul 25 2008, 11:49 AM) Hey why are you both Pelican & Pelikan. That is a no no :bwekk:
Ah the wonders of technology! On my desktop I am Pelican, but on my Laptop had to use Pelikan as it would not let me sign in with my original handle. Go figure.
