Can I get some input on having fender flares on the 08 SF please? Do they give the fender edges (paint) good protection or are they useless overpriced plastic piecs that trap dirt and salt behind them.

TIA! :liebe011:

I don't think anyone here has them, but they are available for purchase here:

I used to live in Chicago and now live in southern Arizona.

If I wanted the fender flares and lived in Toronto or some other city, similiar to Chicago, there is no way I would install them.

Living where I do now, there would be no problem because we have no salt and road grime to get caught inside the flares.

To answer your question, don't do it. When the weather is too cold to wash your vehicle, that winter slush with the salt and various road grime acids, will will have to lay beneath the flares until it is warm enough to flush them out.

Not to mention the fact that, THEY DO NOT LOOK GOOD! This last statement is just my humble opinion.

IMO, i think they look ok gives the car a new look, but hes right, in the winter it will suck especially with all that salt in the street.

They only give the car a new look, they barely give any protection. I had my 07 in the snow everywhere and never had any deep scratches. Just gotta keep your car clean, wax, and use clay. :)

thats my 2 cents

They definitely lend a sporty look but I don't think I'd go that route myself.

I wanted them, but my dealership expressed a major concern about them, saying they trapped tons of dirt and are not stuck on very well, just 2sided tape. They know how much I take care of my cars adn said I would regret getting them.

We looked at these too, but the city of Edmonton puts a hefty amount of salt on the roads (October through April) when the snow falls. This would no doubt become a rust issue down the road, so we decided not to go that route.
