changing oil for 1st time (3,500 mi). I got a metal washer with the oem filter. I guess it goes on the drain plug after removing original. Why does this has to be replaced? Original seems to be stuck on the plug, do you pry it off?
Oil cap says 5w20 but I am filling with 5w30, manual says its ok....

See the washer goes on the drain plug. Filter was tough to get loose. Does Hyundai sell a filter wrench??? Used a 17mm socket to remove the drain plug.

For max gas mileage you should use the 5w20, the crush washer should be replaced evertime you drain the oil but I have used mine 2x with no problems.

Try one of these "cup" wrenches next time. The factory filter and aftermarket filters seem to be different sizes so buy your wrench accordingly. These wrenches are sold at many auto parts stores. I use one with a 6" extension to my ratchet.

Thanks, that's what I use on my other cars. I guess I will have to bring the OEM filter with me and try the "cups" to fit.
