Hi all,

Just wanted to check in. After a pile of research including Consumer Reports and Automobile Protection Association in Canada (which got me 500.00 over invoice), my wife and I are off to do the paperwork of a new 2008 Limited 5 pass SF.

It was great to browse the forums and see all of the issues and resolutions with the vehicle. This is my first non-honda since 1982!

And yes... I know I can't plug my iPod in :)

We're thinking of the either the Khaki or the Deep Water Blue. I like red, but not the Hyundai red.. oh well. Both are on the lot. The only options for us will be the hood deflector, cargo rubber mat and I'm thinking of the step bar... just to give the vehicle a bit of protection from car doors.

Black is a pain to keep clean, shows everything, White isn't great to have in the Winter for other cars seeing you and silver is everywhere!!

If you think black is a pain to keep clean, stay away from the deepwater. It is a very hard color to keep clean (I am a detailer for a Hyundai dealer). My mom's car is white and just over 5 years old, it shows everything! and needs to be clayed often, never again will we get white. My color is very nice and easy to keep clean. Khaki isn't for me as I don't like it on any Hyundai. Don't settle for a color you don't like, I'm sure they could do a dealer trade.

I bought hyundai sidesteps off of ebay and they didn't come with the bolts. Like I said, I work for a Hyundai dealer and it's a pain trying to get them. I have mudguards, cargo tray, and all weather mats as well as some other accessories. I am in need of a bug deflector but I'm waiting to find a cheap one on ebay.

LOL... never really thought of the blue to keep clean... I'm actually retiring a dark blue '94 Accord!

I did like the Khaki, my only concern was the tan leather with the kids.. I guess I can treat it to help keep it clean. Forgot about the mud guards.. they don't seem to be on the option list for the Limited. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to do the paperwork, so I'll check that out.

To get the deal without having to go to the APA dealer, I said I would pick from stock and there are quite a few.

You never said what your colour was...

Thanks for the input!!!

How many miles on the accord?

I see you are in Canada, so maybe things are different there. Most accessories are installed at the port here in the US or you can get them from the parts department. Honestly, if you live in canada get aftermarket mudguards. The hyundai ones look nice but they they don't protect very well especially, the front ones.

The color I have is slate blue, very nice with a silver metallic flake to it.

The Accord has 273,000 kms on the body and about 163,000 on a new engine block which Honda put in under warranty.

Thats about 171K in miles. It would still run for a couple of years, but I have had it for so long and we need something a bit bigger hauling sports stuff with the kids. I also have a 2002 Civic.

Plus the old one is going to need some work soon.. I can just "feel" it!

If I could have had any color, I think I would have chosen Dark Cherry Red. But I bought at the end of the model year to get a better price and the color selection was limited. Slate Blue and Steel Gray were tied for second favorite and they had a Slate Blue Limited AWD without sunroof exactly as I wanted so guess what I got

Congratulations on your purchase!

My wife purchased a 2008 LTD SF in the Khaki with the tan leather interior. She just love it & very easy to keep clean.

Your LTD should come with Factory mud guards on it.

So from the West Coast to "TO" town good luck with the SF.

Thanks Dave!

Once I get it, I'll be off to Krown for sure :) Basically, the deal I was able to get was, 500.00 over dealer invoice + 5 years oil changes.. not bad I guess. I'll look for the mud guards.

I won't do any of the dealer extras for paint treatment, interior etc. The one we had on the test drive was the Khaki and I enjoyed the colours.

To have a bit of a chuckle... my 13 yr old asked if she could plug in a laptop as I mentioned there was power outlets in the rear... after a second I realized.. YES! you could run a plug to the outlet in the cargo area... hehe.

On that note, my wife commented that she could take the blender to the beach to make drinls in the back of the SF... women!!!

Did the deal... pick it up Thursday around noon. Went with the Khaki after looking at it in different light. Also chose the one on the back lot, not the one we test drove because of the annoying pass front window squeak.. like it hadn't quite sealed tight into the rubber when it was up.

Passed on all the after options like rustproofing etc as I take my cars to Krown every year.

Wife and I flipped a coin in the dealership for the side rails... I lost.

You should definitely drive the exact truck you plan on taking home before accepting delivery.

Congrats on the purchase!

Glad you noticed the noise and decided on a color you liked. Just get the rails and tell her they threw them in.

Congrats... pick the hottest day possible to get the Krown treatment done - it works best that way according to what I've been told from folks that work there, although it's no fun for them.

I've used Krown forever.. that stuff really works! I had purchased a brand new Acura Integra in '89. It didn't go to Krown until '91. Several years later they replaced a body panel that had pin hole rust at no charge.

Hi,

I just joined up here as well and decided to go with Limited 'Dark Cherry Red' a couple months ago.

It was hard to replace my Honda Accord, but I decided to take a chance with the Santa Fe and so far its been great. Sitting at 5000km and still going strong.

=)
