Hey everyone,

So, ive mentioned it in a few of my posts, but the time has come [very quickly].
I'm going on a roadtrip with 2 of my friends and leaving this coming thursday.. it's pretty far, from my house in Toronto, to the east coast of canada [P.E.I, New Brunswick, Halifax etc].

So, essentially, me and 2 other guys + all of out stuff for the 2 week trip will be packed to the brim of the accent..
I wanted to make this thread so I could have a place to come for my concerns leading upto this trip..
so thank you all for reading and whatnot.. i dont really even know whats going to go here.

I'm going to attempt to make a trip diary for ya'll.. im thinking about doing it via my blackberry.. and facebook.. mainly because i probably wont have any internet access in the middle of the woods, or wherever we end up.
.. if any of you haven't joined the almighty fbook, i'll put the key points into this thread when i get back. However, if anyones down for checking it out on facebook.. i'll be posting alot as we go, give me an add 'matthew shephard'.. and check it out.
..
i guess my first question would be.. from my house, we are going a one way, almost non-stop trip for about 907.70 miles or 1460kms to our first campsite in NB.
.. is it cool to drive the car for that long, straight?
what do you all think?

again, thanks for checking this out!
i'll post pics before i leave of the car all packed and ready to go.. should be a small feat.

take care everyone.

i dont see any reason why you couldnt do that far in a day... nice 8 hour day with some tunes, some friends... i wanna do a road trip too!! check fluids, top off b4 you leave town.. you get oil changed recently? check tranny (transmission you sickos) fluid? just for laughs, take a bumper to ground measurement before and after you load up...... have fun, drive safely!

lol.. i'll check the tranny alright!

.. reason #14534 why i dislike my dealer..
"im going on a long trip, if I came in would you guys be able to check my car out, make sure everything is running well etc"
"umm.. no. (looks at me stupid) .. how do you think my guys are gonna get paid? they're not doing any work!"
wtf.. hate!

.. i'll take those measurements too.. im looking forward to the trip!.. the Km's.. not so much.
i changed to amsoil about 2k kms ago.. so i should be good to go.. im guessing about 4000 kms round trip.. well see.. i bet it'll be more than that.

.. lol, on my gps, it's telling me about 16 hours.. .. so double that 8 hour estimate! .. therefore my question still stands!
thanks torb!

sorry, math wasnt strong point in school... lol was thinking you were driving faster! lol what kind of roads you taking?

for that long ya better put an empty jug in the car so you make fewer "potty stops"!! lol

if at all possible try and keep RPMS a bit on the low(er) side, ya figure with the added weight its gonna suck the gas down... tire pressure too...

Schweet a road trip!!! hope you guys have a blast man!!!!

The distance you asked about shouldnt be a problem. 16 hrs of driving will hurt you more then it will the car lol... as long as it stays cool, lubricated and has some gas you should be rolling right along ;)

The distance should be fine on the car. Have fun, and change drivers often. Driving tired can be as bad as driving drunk.

Looking forward to your posts on the trip.

thanks alot guys.
i think theres obviously going to need to be a sleep-stop somewhere in between there.
.. sadly I DONT have cruise control :( lol .. wish me luck..
gas cost = :( .. probably not going to go much above 110km/h.. which sucks, but its in the interest of gas, thanks torbo.. I think we're planning on taking mainly backroads once we get out of the toronto/montreal combo.. should be pretty fun!

also, thanks for the concern, ultra.
someone else driving my car is like watching someone bang my girlfriend, but I guess i'll have to put that aside as i treasure my life.

yea, it'll be a lowrider for sure.. even though, for obvious reasons we're all having to pack alot lighter than we would normally. but whatever... roughing it.
rondy and anyone else on facebook.. try doing a search for 'Matthew Shephard'.. my profile pic is me in a blue shirt with a black bar over my eyes.. classy, i know.

thanks homies!

my best friend and i once drove 2250kms each way in my old '85 vw golf for a weekend keg party in las vegas in the summer in 21.5h on the way there, 19.5h on the way back.

if that pos could handle that, there's no reason a new hyundai can't handle less than 1/2 the distance/day not in the desert... if it has any problems whatsoever i'd be **** off if i were you.

thnking about setting up a road trip to The Tail of The Dragon! take a part of a day to drive there a day to drive it couple of times.hehe and leave the next day to come back make for a nice three day week end with lots of driving! and beautiful mountian scenery!

check all your fluids and tires before you go! and then everytime you stop for gas check again! but should be fine i drove from here to conn straight through and then back a week later no problems...the lil accents love to get out and cruise!
