Dear Tremere,
Are you the original buyer for your 2004 Sonata? Do you have less than 60,000 miles?
While you could fix this yourself, I heartily recommend that you get this fixed under warranty. Unless you had a road obstruction cut or slice one of the two power steering fluid lines (not likely), this should be fixed under warranty.
If you choose to fix this yourself, with the engien cold, run your fingers up and down the two lines coming from your upper power steering pump and go all the way down the line to the lower unit. If the rubber lines are not leaking, feel around the lower unit on a COLD engine. You likely have a blown seal, and this will require a trip to a mechanic.
P>S> I tried to replace the seals in a Ford truck lower power steering unit one time...worst disaster ever. I would up with oily ball bearing rolling all over the floor. Wound up paying more because I could not find all of the bearings. You need a spanner wrench set, and that alone is enough to discourage most people.
