Thanks, madderhatter, I appreciate it.

Yeah... as charming as it is to promote another website on the forum, I think trying to start a reliability study for a vehicle that was first sold 3 weeks ago might not make a whole lot of sense.
This is a very common misperception that follows from not understanding how the research process works. When pulling people from a source like this, if we did like most surveys and asked them to report what has happened, say, over the past year, we'd probably get heavily distorted results. Why? Because people who've had a lot of problems would be more likely to respond.
So, what we do is have people sign up to participate, then have them report on what happens from that point on. This way their past experience cannot distort the results. This does take longer to yield results, because we cannot instantly get a year of data. Instead, it takes a year to get a year of data. But the results are then of much higher quality.
Because of this method, if we want to know how how many repairs a Genesis requires from the beginning, owners have to be involved from the beginning.
J.D. Power will have its must-followed initial quality ratings next June, and they won't publicly release a numerical score for the Genesis. This research could have a result for the first few months of ownership much sooner, in February, and will provide both a numerical score and all of the details provided in the surveys. Just like I already do for other Hyundai models, I'll post the results on this forum as a way of saying thanks.
But first we need a result to post. It all depends on how soon enough owners sign up.
