Hi,
My girlfriend has a 2002 Elantra that has a peculiar problem. She frequently has to travel out of town for work, and leaves her car in the driveway. After 2 days or so, her headlights turn on for no reason. It's not necessarily in low light conditions, either. I know she usually sets the headlights to 'auto'...not sure if that's the problem or not. But, by the time she gets back from her trip, her battery is drained because the lights have been on. Anyone know what the problem might be? She's convinced she needs a new battery, though I'm not sure that'll solve the problem.

Thanks!
mike

I've never heard of there being an auto option in any Elantra. Is she just leaving them in the on position at all times so they come on when the car starts? If that's the case, she needs to turn them off when the car is off. Normally, when the car is on and you shut it off, the lights stay on until you open the door. Maybe she's leaving them on and the door switch is bad?
