Hello Friends

I recently bought a heated seat kits from KAI and wanted to share with you guys some info about it for those who are thinking of buying it.

This is what the kit comes with.

1. 4 heated pads, 2 for each seat. (No brand name printed on the pads)

2. 2 Heated seats switches which are OEM (They backlight up Amber instead of Green and have an Amber indicator)

3. The harness is not plug and play. You have to connect the wires to ground, Acc which takes a lot of heavy load....The cabin lights actualy dim a little when you turn on your heated seats...and also you need to figure out where to connect the other wire for illumination.

4. A gray Center Console Trim is provided with it so your car looks as it has OEM seats. It is the part which has the coin holder and your new heated seat buttons. I guess it is good but then they send you just one type so if thats your color then its good, otherwise, like I have a wooden trim in my Sonata so that center piece is useless for me.

5. No install instructions are provided.

I have tried to give an impartial feedback so if you have any questions please feel free to ask.
Thank you
Atul

Good write-up. You should probably tap into a much more robust circuit, or use Fuse 2 (15A) which is dedicated to the seat heaters. At least for the ones that came with them from the factory. There's no telling if they're the same ones though. Your lights should not dim at all when they're turned on.

Thank you.

I do understand in any car lights do dim whenever you turn on the seats. I was not pointing it out as a flaw but trying to express the point that it needs a strong accessory port and not just anyone would do.

Honestly, I am kinda divided now. Is it really worth it to have an OEM look or getting an aftermarket heated seats which have dual heat options? I tried to turn the pads on to see how hot does it get but frankly it didnt get warm enough for me to notice. I also have a Mercedes SLK which came with the factory option and 2 level heating and that really warms me up.Also, if I get these seats installed then I even have to buy a new center cover for the additional switches.

Also, as I said this kit is Amber backlit, which means it does not match with my interior.

Lastly, could you please explain a bit more on where should I tap the Acc wire?

Thank you

Must have mis-read. In our LX with factory heated seats the lights do Not dim when they are turned on. I suppose it could be that the aftermarket ones draw a lot more juice.

Just pop open your fuse box and look for fuse two. According to the fuse layout this is dedicated to the seat heaters, so if you don't have them from the factory it should be available for use. Well, that's if the ones you bought don't exceed the 15A of that circuit.

I have factory heated seats. Is there a cooled seats system? I would love it!

Definitely looking forward to THAT in the Genesis. I don't understand, and never will, why they don't do both front seats !

You are right, I misread it.

Actually when I said the lights were dimming were as I had plugged the heated seats to the Aux lighter power below the cig lighter.

Once I plugged them to the Car Amp's power it didnt dim.

I believe these are really OEM heated seat pads however still even if they came standard with the Sonata they are single heat and not dual heat pads.
