I have a 2008 Sante Fe with the towing packing. I know there are wires near the driver's side tire well. Should I have gotten the wiring connection to connect these wires to the trailer wires with the towing package, or do I have to purchase this connection separately?

Anyone have any thoughts on where to purchase it, other than the dealer that isn't open on weekends and is 30 miles away?

Did you already have a hitch installed when you bought it? The towing package and towing prep package are two different things. Either way, if you have Hyundai's trailer hitch installed, then the wiring harness to connect to the trailer should be there too. If there is NOT a tow hitch installed, then all you have is the towing PREP package, which is a heavier cooling fan and trans cooler, and the PRE-wiring for the trailer harness. The part number for the trailer harness itself is U8612-2B001. However, don't expect to be able to get it from the dealer any time soon, they are on backorder due to a national part freeze. They have redesigned the harness. We currently have one on backorder for a customer, and there is no ETA.

You should be able to go to any place that does tow hitches and they should be able to put a wiring harness in for you. We have a place in town that does that stuff, and have done many brand new Santa Fes since we're having trouble getting OEM harnesses.

If you have even the "smallest" amount of mechanical ability, you will be able to install a trailer wiring harness yourself in 20 minutes.

Many of us who frequent this web site have done so. In fact, we have also installed our own trailer hitches.

The internet is full of great deals which are 2 or three times cheaper than the dealer.

This is assuming, of course, that you are physically able to do such things.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks to both for the info - I did not get the hitch installed by the dealer, so it sounds like I got everything I was suppose to get. Will do some research and think about doing the install myself. This website seems like a great source of info!

Here is a great site for hitches. There are four of them. All of them are good.

Since you already have the Towing Package, be sure to order this wiring harness, assuming your Santa Fe does not currently have one.

Seems to me you already have a wiring harness but I am not completely sure. My Santa Fe did not have the towing package so I had to order the other wiring harness that is offered on the above web site.

Is there a favorite website for ordering this harness? I have already installed the hitch.

This link will take you to 2 choices of harnesses.

One for the stock Santa Fe and the other if you have the tow package.
