Anyone have a bra on their 07 or 08?

Its something I am considering for protection of the front.
Just wondered if anyone had one on theirs, maybe could share a photo or their thoughts?

Thanks
Rob

I think there is a OEM bra available for the 07 and 08 HDs. Ask your dealership..

when you said "bra" you mean that black bumper and hood protection? I thing it's very useful if your cars travels over 80 km/hr with a lot of bugs in the air. In my case I would really like to install one of those but it's not available over here, i'll try searching by "bra" instead of "bug deflector"

Be very careful and make sure you take it off every 2 weeks and clean it and the paint. I made the mistake of keeping the one I had on my mom's car for 2 months and it turned the paint yellow, lucky most of it buffed out but there is a line at the tip of where it was. I use bug deflectors instead now.

I used to work at an auto auction where we got in a lot of repo'd cars. We had to take the bras off every car that had them, and nine times out of ten the paint was all scratched up underneath from the trapped dirt and grime, and then you could tell where the bra was because the paint that was exposed to the sun had faded a little and the paint under the bra had not.

I don't recommend them for these reasons. I do know that Hyundai's OEM bra is not made to take off and put back on frequently, because it is a very tight fit. It usually takes two of our guys to get one on right.

So basically its one of those situations where you cant win.

I drive a lot, and I am always getting sand blasted by trucks ahead of me.
Rocks hitting the front, etc.

So without it, I am SOL with damage.
With it, I am SOL with damage.

Cant win!

Well, I am one of the people who like them.
So I will check it out when it gets here, if I dont like it.
I'll sell it.

I have one on the way ( I think? ). It was ordered a month ago. I have used them in the past and I am aware of the care that must be used ( keeping everything clean, waxed and dry ). I will only use it selectively.

For the headlights and fog lights I have already used the 3M invisible material. It is said that this material will prevent the lenses from becoming sand blasted from a lot of high speed driving and clouded from the solar effects of the sun. I've always enjoyed the clarity and distance of new car headlights so I thought I would give this one the best chance of staying that way. We'll see. . .

I got mine...and I love it!
Before I put it on, I used a real good wax and everything is smooth.
I have not had any issues so far and the OEM Bra is really good quality.

I will post a pic when I can.

I use to put Armourall on mine to make it shiny and because made it look even better. I will use it on this one too (when it arrives ).

Another trick is to get a piece of soft foam rubber 1" thick and maybe 4" wide and slighty less than the width of your hood. Get the hood all cleaned up
and waxed, put the bra on. Slide this under the edge of the hood piece, perhaps 1" deeper than the edge so it can'tbe seen. This is to keep any dirt from rolling down underneath it which will screw up your paint if it collects under there. It will also
prevent or block rain or other moisture such as morning dew from getting under there. You can easily spray paint the edge of the foam black to match the bra so it won'tbe seen.

Then on top of that I think I am going to put the 3M film just on the hood and underneath where the bra will be as further insurance. I got my eye on the kit mentioned above but want to see how far up the hood my bra covers. I want the
3M material to cover a few inches extra. I will probably buy 8' of the the 3M material in bulk just to make sure and then do some extra stuff with it ( mirrors, door handle cups, front fender corners etc. ).

I had one on my 2004 and it ruined the paint. If you get one, make sure you take it off at least once a month for a few days.
