Call me stupid but I noticed today while having my oil changed that I am missing clear coat on the underside of the hood. Guess the lighting was just right. Is this normal?

not exposed to the elements as much as the top... doesnt get as wet as the top in the rain, sure it gets splatters, but not direct contact... mine like it too..

No clearcoat on my hood or on the inside of the trunk lid. In the trunk under the package tray it doesn't even really have a good paint coverage at all, it's primer gray in spots. I don't think it's real important, the areas aren't that important for aesthetics and it's not too necessary for durability... Can't see it from the outside, so I don't have any issues with them saving a few pennies. If this were a Genesis I'd not feel the same though. :banana:

My last couple cars didn't have much in the way of clearcoat under the hood either, but they had insulation under there so there wasn't as large of a painted area visible. Wasn't as noticeable.
