Hi,

i have recently purchased a 2001 sonata - alls well wth the sonata - however

the airbag lights are constantly on! - this is a personal vehicle and the seller (owner before me) had spent 1200 USD repairng the airbags. the car dint have any issues for first 2 days post which airbag light stays on (steady)
the dealer had given 1 year warrenty on airbags to the original owner (but not sure if the warrenty is transferrable) actually not.

i need your help to understand how i can resolve this - cause i dont want to spend another 1200 USD on a 4000 USD Car and keep facing this issue again and again

pls help and advise

Rod

My 2004 had the same light on dashboard problem, always on, except I got my car brand new from the dealer back then and has never suffered damage or problems with the airbags needing repair.
Took the car to the delair to claim warranty, dealer got car fixed and explained that these cars have a conector below the front seats, if you store things below the front seats there is a chance that the connector will get loose or damaged.

Have a PROFESSIONAL or DEALER check those connectors. Don't do it yourself, if the aibags deploy while working on it it could cause physical injury or even dead to the person close to the airbag and in the wrong angle.

If connectors underneeth the seats are OK, then if might be a problem with the rest of the airbag repairs previously done.

Good luck

EF/ELP, your right about the warranty item. There was actually a recall on my 2000 so that is something to look into, maybe the recall was never done.
