Resale value on any Hyundais will be low for a long time to come. On the other hand, they are usually deep discounted when purchased - I know mine was. So it may be a wash, just don't expect much at trade in time. Resale is not that important if you keep cars for many years.
BTW, Oct. Car & Driver Magazine, Long Term Tests, C/D Files, page 98. Genesis ride takes another hit. Apparently nobody happy with the ride? Went to C/D website, but could find nothing on where ride criticism is coming from, but it is there apparently.
Actually, according to KBB and other sources, the resale value on the Genesis sedan is about on par w/ the Lexus GS and considerably higher than the Infiniti M, as well as various Caddies, Lincolns, etc.
Also, the resale value on Hyundais have seen the biggest increase of any auto manufacturer over the past 3-4 years, and w/ the next gen of Hyundai products (starting w/ the 2011 Sonata), the resale value of Hyundais should go up significantly (on the downside, say goodbye to deep discounts off MSRP - still will be a good deal, but days of getting a Sonata for $15 grand are probably over).
As for the ride quality, yes - there have been some criticisms (as there have been w/ the Acura TSX and BMW 135i), but even then, pretty much all auto reviews that have noted some harshness over uneven pavement have given the Genesis thumbs up (the recent MT or C&D long term update stated that the Genesis is "an E Class for a C Class price."
