I have read a few posts from people asking for advice on how to replace the front wheel studs. My 03 AWD Santa Fe is apart at the moment and there is no way that the studs can be knocked out with the hub in place. I have removed the caliper assembly, rotor and hub nut and fabricated a slide hammer to try and remove the hub assembly. It will not budge and I don't want to hit it any harder if I am missing something. Does the retaining snap ring behind the hub stop it pulling off or are they just very, very tight? The snap ring can't be removed without removing the driveshaft so it just keeps getting harder. Any advice from anyone that has removed the front hubs would be appreciated.
I am trying to fit longer 'NICE S3400' studs so that I can run 8mm spacers and give me clearance to fit my snowchains on my 245/70x16 Bridgestone D694 All Terrain tyres.
Cheers Bruce
