Hey everyone,

I am on my first tank in my new 08.

I am at 100 miles and a tick under a 1/4 tank used according to the gauge.

I have been using the a/c all the time except for my morning commute to work, and do about 80/20 city/hwy.

My question is, am I on track for a good tank? does this gauge tell it like it is lol or does it slow at times and seem to move fast at times?

Most of my previous cars stayed on full for like 100 miles lol and the last 1/4 of the tank, it tanked. haahaha.

How is the Elantra?

I am on my 5th fill of my new GLS and get to about 120 mi. at the 3/4 full mark on the guage with A/C, 70% hwy and 30% city. Averaged 29.7 on the first 1600 miles. That said, using the guage to estimate fuel milage is very inaccurate. The only way to get a true measure is to calculate it after every fill and average across several fills.

Check out this site ... http://www.truedelta.com/ for real-life gas mileage.

What also is important is where you buy your gas. I am keeping track of where I have bought gas and how many miles each tank full has gotten me. The driving conditions for each tank has been the same so it will be easy for me to decide where to buy gas from.

So far of the 3 tank fulls, Phillips 66 has given the best followed by BP.

Also, realize that the more gas you use, the better MPG you get. With less weight from less gas your get more MPG.

I've averaged 32 mpg so far on about 1600 miles with like 3 fill ups. I noticed on mine that I get about 120 miles for the first quarter then about 210 at half and about 300 by time I hit a quarter tank. It's kind of weird though because when the tank says empty and the dummy light comes on I still have about 2.5 gallons. So all in all, the gauge is a rough estimate but you'll just have to get used to you're specific car, good luck!
