QUOTE(dogstar @ Jul 9 2008, 11:20 AM) That is called a hot air intake, or if you are Korean HAI. ;)
It will work, and it'll make the intake noise very loud, but I don't think it provides any more power, and your filter will get dirty very quickly.
I'm not agree with you. It'll let more air into the engine, because of: 1. Better filter, 2. Less air resisting structure. Assuming these I'm sure it will change performance.

You don't want hot under-hood air. You want cooler outside air. Cold air is more dense. Not sure on the Hyundai, but my Trailblazer SS would pull timing when IAT (Intake Air Temperature) was above 85 degrees F. It went from running a high 13 second 1/4 mile, to a low 15 sec 1/4.

You are free to disagree with me, but your being disagreeable doesn't change the fact that hot air is not beneficial to your engine's performance. Better filter, hmm, maybe. Amsoil products never seem to be proven, except in tests sponsored by Amsoil. Less air resisting structure? I'm guessing you are referring to the intake pipe. Yes, there is less intake pipe. All that means is that you get more hot air into your engine more easily.

QUOTE(thanox2 @ Jul 11 2008, 06:31 AM) just make a "cold air box". I have a SRI in order for my MS3, it performs the same as a CAI on the Dynos and street. Now there is more of a chance to get heat soak when you are on a stop light for a while but when the car is moving the temps are normal. Cobb Tuning the company I bought it from its in the making of a Cold air box for their SRI, in their tests temps drop down around 20-25%... so... if you want to get a SRI for the sonata just make it right, get a smaller battery or relocate it and route the SRI to where the battery is, then fabricate a box that covers the sides and the top and leave the bottom open with a flex pipe pulling air from the bottom of the car to the box. Cobb did it and it works... btw COBB tunes the new GTR, EVO, STI an MS3. http://blogs.cobbtuning.com/(IMG: http://blogs.cobbtuning.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/ms3_gtlive_05.JPG) LoLz... I'd sooner just wait for Supradevil to make CAIs or get one fabricated locally to yourself. Moving the battery and making a box "just right" would annoy me, and you would be left without any way to secure the battery.
