Wow, The Genesis' began hitting Dallas/Ft Worth on the 4th of July. One dealer got 1, another got 2, and the one I chose got 13. All were silver or black, except for the one beautiful pale blue/grey metallic with tan leather interior. I drove one on the 4th and took the blue one home today as mine. I agree that they have done a nice job and it feels very MB. I'm not concerned about the unavailability of the 4.6 Tau because the 290 horsepower 3.8 V6 has very similar performance numbers up to 130 mph and I think the v6 is an easier resale. Very Happy except for the unusual bare under deck on the parcel shelf in the trunk. Just don't look up... I'll report in with pictures from time to time, but the wait was worth it. A great value for the price...

Maven,
You must be talking about the dealer on Coit Rd. I was there yesterday to review the Genesis.
Very impressive, although I have a few gripes (don't we all).
They made an awfully big deal about the ashtray. Most cars today don't even have an ashtray. If they do it is generally removable and can be used as a cubby. Speaking of cubbies, this car lacks in that space. Not much room to store stuff. The center console is quite small for a car this size. Also, the console cover contains a CD case storage area. Totally worthless. They should have split the cover into two horizontal sections like on the Accord.
Rear seat headroom is a bit tight.
On the other hand, it is a great value. The paint and fit and finish are outstanding.
I will purchase one before the end of the year. I am waiting for the hype to die down a bit. The dealer I visited yesterday had a $2500 "market adjustment" added to the base price. I doubt I'll see that in December when I am ready to buy.

I just went to my dealer, which received ONE genesis yesterday and scheduled a test-drive this afternoon. The salespeople had no idea who the person was who had scheduled the visit. Just before I left, one guy recognized the name as being from the "internet group" in a different area of the dealership. Well, the guy never showed up for the appointment anyhow.
We walked out to see the Genesis... it was staggeringly beautiful, the light blue color. The interior looks like each seat is a fitted glove, looks huge, sporty, comfortable. The interior looks really solid, deep, comfortable, like everything is very thoughtfully and intentionally placed. That's something you can spot - a button or device that's just "stuck somewhere", kind of out in the middle of nowhere, because there's nowhere better to put it. Everything is in its proper place on this car. It was, by the way, a light blue with tan interior and black details. A bit unusual coloring. So from OUTSIDE, my impression is: it is really a spectacular vehicle, I'll find a way to grab a 4.6 as soon as they arrive, no question about the matter. It looks great in pictures, but it really is just far more impressive in person, that is certainly true.
Of course, I couldn't drive it, because it hadn't been inspected or detailed yet. It was still covered in tape, and the wheels were covered. Woopse. ha-ha-ha, got me again Hyundai! Last time I talked to these guys they told me they wouldn't receive a Genesis until August. This time they tell me that it's ready to test drive TODAY at 1pm.
Not that I'm bitter or anything. It was fun taking an hour off work to just drive to the dealership and back to see... patches of a blue Genesis.

Jwaters,
Right, the ashtray is removable. However, the space left by removing the ashtray isn't exactly conducive to storage. You could keep change in there, but it is clearly not designed as a removable option like in my F-150.
BTW, I'm sub-six foot and I though the head room was a little tight. One man's opinion.

Me too, I can wait for the hype to settle down, which I believe it will. High gas prices, v6/v8, "Hyundai", ... good time for buyers I think. Dunno what to do with the ashtray? Start smoking ... hehe, while you savor in your ride. QUOTE(Joe215 @ Jul 8 2008, 09:21 AM) I will purchase one before the end of the year. I am waiting for the hype to die down a bit. So the Hyundai people laughed at you? Man, that's messed up. QUOTE(andyman32 @ Jul 8 2008, 03:23 PM) PS, I told the guy who we worked with on both of our Azeras that I wanted to know what the trade-in on a 6-month-old '07 Azera Ultimate w/ Surround & XM would be... he laughed at me. What a team. (IMG: http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/mad/mad0233.gif)

QUOTE(jwaters943 @ Jul 8 2008, 09:10 PM) That sucks! Are you going back tomorrow to drive it?
The salesman I worked with on the Azeras saw me and said, "Yeah, I was going to call you as soon as the Genesis was PDI!" He said that right after he asked me to remind him what my name was. He said he would email me 'tonight' to let me know when the Genesis would be ready to drive, and give me trade-in info on Thor. *checks inbox... finds only spam* Well, I'm not going to drive it today, and going to be out of town on business tomorrow... so maybe Friday? Saturday? :innocent:
