i have two amps, two subs.

currently one amp to one sub. that means 4 ohms right??

to take that down to 2 ohms and maximize the amps, i switch the negatives? or the positives??

the impedance will depend on the impedance of the speaker i think.

if the speaker is 2 ohm, then the amp will simply supply twice the current, if the speaker is 4 ohm, then the amp will supply once (?) the current.

what is it you're trying to achieve? more power from your system?

If the speakers are 4 ohms single coil then you only have to tie both positive, then tie both negatives for both speakers, that way you get a 2 ohms configuration. Now, you need to make sure your amp can take a 2 ohms load, if not, the amp will go into protection. 2 omhs stereo is not the same as 2 ohms mono. There is a web page named basic car audio, there you have all the info you need.

But also the subs have to be 2 ohm as well most single coil are four ohms. Now the amps make sure as qouted below the amps are 2 or ohm stable or you will mess up a sub or amp. Now basics from what I remember If U have 2 4ohm subs 4ohms and 4ohms = 2ohms. Now If you want to use both amps single coil subs make the wiring limited. You may just want to leave you set up like you have it. If not matbe a little more info would help us
