Was thinking of getting 09 Sonata, but ****, anybody seen the real-world pics on here? http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t28181-i-bought-a-genesis.htmNice looking car! Can't wait to test drive and hopefully the price going down sooner. 09 Sonata I think is already at $2k rebate.

If I were in the market for a new car, it would be very hard to pass up the Genesis. But unfortunately, I have a rock solid reliable 2006 Sonata that will probably last me another 7 years. Don't get the V8 just for the engine. The V6 Genesis is plenty strong, and gets remarkable mileage. If you want all the stuff that only comes with the V8, well, that would be nice too.

Genesis looks NICE, but MPG s@cks. It'll be much more less than in sticker. I would get 2 Sonatas or 3 Elantras for that money.

To each its own. Genesis is nice if you load them up with options and other luxury niceties. In fact, I feel, 09 v6 Limited Sonata with NAV has more oomph (in terms of feature) than a base Genesis and options less than the Technology package ($7000). I tried to see which Genesis will be desirable to me.. and I saw that at a bare minimum I would like is the 3.8 v6 + Technology package, which takes me to $39250 MSRP. http://www.edmunds.com/new/2009/hyundai/ge...24/options.htmlI don't think, you will see rebates like sonata in Genesis anytime soon.

I mostly agree, but even a lowly Genesis w/ Premium Package such as mine has many features not found on any Sonata. :P -Smart Key w/ Push button start -L.E.D. interior map/dome lights -Lexicon Audio System -Power Rear Sunshade -Auto down when in Reverse Sideview Mirror -Acoustic windshield and front side window glass -Six speed automatic -Larger V6 w/ more horsepower/torque -Rain sensing windshield wipers -Auto windshield defogger w/ humidity sensor -Electronic active head restraints -Rear A/C vents in B-Pillar and center console -Power tilt/telescoping steering wheel -18" alloy wheels -Memory seating -Auto up/down front windows (Sonata is driver only) etc.

QUOTE(hyundaiorbust @ Jul 7 2008, 04:58 PM) Isn't there a 3.3L V6? I thought I read that somewhere on earlier reports, but nobody seems to be talking about it now.
KDM only. They decided not to bring it to the states in order to avoid canibalizing Azera sales.

The winning formula for me was a "luxury" car at a sub-30K price, and the 3.3L was it. ****, a 4 cycl. would have done it for me also, I love the exterior of the car (versus the 09 sonata, but I love its interior). And the price of gas these days ... a 4 cycl would have me drooling. They may bring the 3.3L to the states however if the other engines don't do as well: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/sedans/...-genesis-sedan/"Hyundai Motor America product public relations manager Jim Trainor said ... that the company may be considering bringing the 3.3L V6 into the line-up later on as a value offering, but the debut of the car will be made with just two engines." Interestingly however the 3.3L v6 is probably same engine in 09 sonata: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/hyundai-a...-genesis-sedan/"Data mining on the EPA website tells us that the 2009 Hyundai Genesis will also feature the same 3.3-liter V6 that's in the Sonata" But, there's not much difference in mileage between the 3.3 and 3.8L, hopefully the price of the 3.3 will make it well worth it to buy that instead of just spending more to go with the 3.8. "The EPA ratings for the 3.3 are 19/27; the bigger 3.8-liter V6 is rated at 18/27."
