Hey ya'll. I know I saw this in the forum somewhere but I can't find it for the life of me. Is there a way to get rid of the annoying dinging sound when the door is ajar with the keys in the ignition? It'd be okay if it went off after a few seconds, but it stays on forever. thankx a bunch.

i think no one should answer this and you should do a search before you start a thread about anything. read the forum rules!!!

dont mean to be a jerk but lately there have been quite a few new people and every one of them have started threads about basic and general things and they are too fuckin lazy to do a search.

open your glove box, take out the two clips on either side(they put up a fight, but you can win) open the glove box all the way.. look inside to the left like your looking under your dash.. there is a metal angle brace with a small box attached to it. that is your dinger... small clip (wire harness) pinch the connector and pull... voila! no more dinger!

OR

you could do what some people have done and wrap the little dinger box in foam tape, like camper sealant tape, to deaden the sound...

hope this helps.. do a search for "door dinger" or "door chime" might be able to find it...

It;s and easy fix. I just unplugged mine. Leave your door open so you can hear and feel
it so you are sure you have the right plug. Look under the glove box and you should see it
up under to the right.

and dispite what every one else thinks i wasnt being a ****. its just that over the past month or so there has been nothing interesting on this forum other than old information about simple topics. like stereo questions or warranty or oil products or mod sites. its not just you and i think for those reading this they know who they are. just use your noggin and do a quick search before you make a thread. or if what qestion you want answered is realitivly simple pm some one and they can help you find what your looking for.

It's alright, Digital, I wouldn't worry about it... This has happened many times before, so I'm not sure why you had to be the one to get singled out. :blink: Just have a look around at how many different threads there are about bad gas mileage, high RPM's with the manual, scratched plastic, you name it... :whistling:

Anyway, I hope you get the chime thingy figured out and if there's anything else you need to know just ask. And like Torbo said, happy 4th to ya!

yeahthe day i got my credit card i read that there was no interest on it for a year so i went out and bought a lap top. i maxed it out 20 minutes after i got it. i paid it in full the next day. now... its a lot harder to get that 2000 bucks paid back but lucky me i still havent paid any interest on it...

There is more pages.... and i wish i would have read them because i then would have read the one that says, "WE OWN YOUR SOUL IF YOU DON'T PAY" page??? wish i would have read that one cause i'm screwed. and i only have two. BUT back to the topic, its annoying but its helpful. the one thing worse than the door chime is the horn!!! try honking at a larger SUV and then see if you intimidate them any!

i said screw it to the other pages. no intrest is fine by me. and last night at mcdonalds i honked at the dude in the the big trunk in fornt of me. he turned around and slammed on the gas. to rev the engine... then the motor died... i kept honking just to **** him off. as for the chime, i finally did it today. the hardest part was getting the glove box open
