Dear carol,
Just stay under the Gross Tow Weight rating and the tongue weight for your Santa Fe and you should have no problems. Since you have the FW Santa Fe, your Gross Towed Weight rating should be about 3200 lbs and tongue weight 320 lbs per the owner's manual, Section 2. I have a 4' x 8' foot trailer that I use often with my Santa Fe, and it tows well in altitudes over 6,000 feet and mountain passes over 7,000 feet.
If you rent the 5 x 8 U-haul enclosed trailer, you will feel some wind resistance since the trailer sticks above the roof of the tow vehicle. The 4 x 8 U-Haul is shorter and tows much better.
P>S> the double axle 6 x 12 U-haul will exceed your Gross Tow Weight rating and the tail will wag the dog.
P>P>S You also can't load the Santa Fe floor to ceiling AND tow a maximum weight trailer at the same time...you will exceed your Combined Gross Vehicle Weight rating. If in doubt, you can get weighed at a truck stop or weigh station.
