Hello all,
I changed the wires and plugs in my Tibby over the weekend and now I am having issues starting. There was a ground wire sticking out of what appears to be coming out of a set of sensors. After tracing it to where (the only logical possibility) it connects we connected the wire and Tibby will still not start. There is a clicking noise but nothing. The wire in question does get really hot....

I have ordered a service manual and set of wiring diagrams, but wanted to post on here to see if anyone has a solution or has run into this before?

Thanks

Disconnect it and if it starts it shouldn't be grounded!

Dear 03,

We will need more information to help. Can you give us a picture? I have changed the plugs and wires on my Tib several times, and I don't remember a wire that might have come loose.

What color is the wire? There is a nice schematic for the 03 Tib in hmaservice.com, and tracing by color plus your picture should be all we need to solve the mystery.

Also, a wire that runs hot is not normal. Every wire on the car should be properly sized for the expected amperage it will carry, and not overheat.

Byron

When looking at the wiring diagram it appears that it runs to the Silenoid (SP?). When it was dinsconnected nothing would happen, once we connected it the starter would click but not turn over. The weird thing is that this is all original so it would have been there since I bought the car... Should i insulate the wire better? or figure out how to replace the wire?

If it's getting hot when you ground it, then more than likely it should not be grounded. I would be afraid to mess with it too much more without some more information. It would be a tragedy for the wire to overheat and catch fire...
