 Is There A Way To Reset Cel On An 03?

I am going to be selling the car soon and am taking it to Autozone today to see what the check engine light is on for. If it is nothing too serious I want to just reset it. Is there a way to reset it manually?

Other than disconnecting the battery, no. To truly reset it and clear the code, a scan tool has to be used. If you disconnect the battery to turn it off, it may end up coming back on and a history code will be stored as well.

Dear natasha,

How helpful is your Autozone? The portable OBD-II scan tool the counter attendant brings out to your car has the ability to clear a code for you. the attendant just has to scroll down to your code line, press 'Delete' and it is gone.

My Autozone won't clear codes they say for liability reasons (aiding and abetting you voiding your warranty) but maybe your Autozone is more helpful.

If you choose, you could buy your own scan tool. They are much cheaper than they used to be. Here is one source that I have bought from and recommend:
