I just bought my 08 elantra 3 weeks ago and have been having the same problem at every fill up. The first time I stopped for gas was right after I purchased the vehicle. The dealer was with me because they were paying for the first fill up. The auto-stop on the pump engaged once the tank was full, however the gas came gushing out moments later. At first I thought it was just the particular gas station and thought nothing of it. However, this has happened two more times at two different locations than the first. Needless to say this is getting extremely annoying considering I wreak of gasoline and it spills all over my new car and the ground at the station! Please help! :rant2:

My first guess would be that the pumps have a very high pumping rate. If you are not trying to add more fuel after it shuts off, and gas gushes out right after the first automatic shut off, then all I can suggest is pump the gas slower. Like, don't squeeze the handle all the way. That will slow down that rate that the gas is dispersed and should keep it from gushing out at the first shut off.
