I think $2,000-$3,000 is a safe bet. It doesn't look like any damage beyond the bumpers and trunk, but it's hard to tell. Did you get sandwiched into that Yaris?

Isn't the insurance company going to send you to a bodyshop?

an expedition with a grill guard threw me into the yaris at about 20mph (his airbags deployd), i was standing still and so was the yaris.

i was thinking of having the apraisal done at the insurances shop and tehn have tehm give me the check n take it to a cheaper local shop n buy a body kit with the difference.

the trunk also has an area thats bent around the peremiter of wer the seals are. and the top trunk isnt lining up with the left 1/4 panel

The air bags on the Expy deployed AND it had a brush guard? That is sad and funny that truck couldn't sustain the impact of hitting a Sonata, even at 20mph.

Do you have a picture of the bodykit you are looking to get?

Hopefully you weren't hurt either.

Very sad to say the least. Make sure that on the estimate they include replacing Both front seat belt assemblies in case those little "rocket motors" inside there fired. Maybe even the active head restraints as well. Those little things that a lot of "adjusters" might not know are in the car.

Man that sucks. When I had my Jetta someone turned into the front of my car when we were at a stop sign. Well I took it to the bodyshop and they ordered the body kit for me. It cost me about a grand out of pocket, which was basically the cost of the side skirts, rear bumper lip and installation. They actually jacked me a little because they ordered the body kit and paid retail price and then marked up the price of the kit to me (said they would have made money ordering the front bumper from VW so that was their rationalization) I guess it really depends how much the cost of the kit is compared to the cost of Hyundai OEM parts. If the kit isn't much more than the parts, then you shouldn't be out of pocket by much at all.

Here is the kit. It comes with a full replacement front bumper and grille and is very nice

Ouch! Around here you couldn't even get that fixed and repainted properly for anywhere close to $1200.

DO NOT ACCEPT THAT!!!!!

Dude I just got a quote to get my car fixed from where it was keyed, and it was almost that much. Actually the first estimate was more than $1,200, then I buffed a lot of it out (stupid me) and my insurance company made me bring it to another place and that estimate was closer to $800. I mean from what I'm looking at you need a new front bumper, new rear bumper, new grill, mounting brackets, paint, install, and who knows what else. There is no way that'll be anywhere close to $1,200. Not where I live at least.

That stinks. All State are you in good hands? Well apparently not.

I've had Nationwide for almost 10 years since I first started driving (holy crap I've been driving that long). Well anyways, their service is great, and rates are very reasonable. The few times I've had to deal with them its been a pleasure.

I would disagree alex, looking at the pictures, I don't see any deformity in the Yaris' bumper which would lead me to believe that alfu's car has minimal damage to the front end.

To remove, paint, replace rear bumper should be between $700 - $800. That leaves $400 - $500 to repair the front end. It may need mounting brackets but the insurance adjuster only writes VISIBLE damage. Won't know until bumper is removed if the brackets are damaged. If they do need to be replaced, the bodyshop would submit a supplement, adjuster would go to shop to inspect and then pay the shop directly for the supplement.

I am assuming your car was keyed down to bare metal and from the nose to the tail. This would involve more panels to repair and translate into higher cost.

yea I agree, I can't really tell in the pics, though if the bumper is cracked, not much else you can do except replace it. I just sort of assumed by the "what body kit do I buy" that the front bumper needed to be replaced. If not, then I guess the estimate is probably reasonable.

As far as the keying, I think it was just the front fender and side door that were on the 2nd estimate. Although I have no clue when reading the estimate. I was able to buff everything else out using the turtle wax premium rubbing compound.
